Put it in freezer, in a bag, after you changed the RAMs and let it cood down to room temperature, for 5 minutes then get it out and apply power to it.
It's a good test to see if all the contacts are good and also if the RAMs are good too.

Yes, i do this the same way (always in a plastic bag) using a deep-freezer, down to -25 degrees for two hours. I call this "climate test", but i must admit it was not certified by Greta!

Great job, oscarboiro, makes me glad my tipps are helpfull Removing the RAM chips with the "Hot-Air and wire-pull" method is really easy. Only thing to keep in mind is to only put smooth force on pulling to void ripping off the pads.

THAT is a real issue! Most chips are fake, and in the end they all came from China...
I have some real genuine ones left, as i bought a small stock ammount (the last ones from a depod) from a trusted source in USA a view years ago. Shure Bosch (aka Blaupunkt) have some in their stock, but won't sell them seperately. Some day a Bosch employee contacted my to repair his radio and he had the ability to get a pair from an internal department. But he was not able to gain more...

I also tried several China goods, but they all failed. Most of them right after soldering but even if they seem to run in first, the "climate test" killed the all.
As i get devices to repair which where already repaired before, i found the some "smart" repair services put compatible chips, which are usually used on PC RAM banks into it. Shure those chips are not build for those extreme environments like a car and will also fail if it's getting colder...

Just used a pair of cheap chips from China and so far passed all the heat tests.

I have only tried 2 out of 20 chips. But it’s been in fridge overn and it’s now been on for 10 hours.
Seems ok but time will tell

You will get two genuine from me these days and can compare the difference.
BUT, i won't say that there are no working chips out there, only that i didn't find any, and have bought at 5 different resellers and different markings until i gave up. So please go on trying. Finding some good source would be a great benefit because my small genuine depot is getting empty...

Did you manage to sort out a pair of chips. Unfortunately one of those cheeeeppp chips died,
It was worth a try, I have found some that may be ok look right but until they arrive can’t be certain,
Ok on the video mod for MCA, I managed to pickup a secondhand unit with all fittings, and works so decided not to go ahead and update my none video
