Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
Anybody got an idea of how to solve this, or what may be wrong?

Re: Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
Ford IDS has problems with PATS programming since version 120 or so. Sometimes it works for 2-3 times after an IDS reinstall. Anyway, you need an online account to access Ford's dealer portal - to be able to program PATS.
Regarding ABS model, IDS only looks at it's ID to know if it is with ESP or not (till 2008 it was an option, after it is mandatory for EU sold cars).
You can also use IDS to change ANY option in CCC... you just need to know how to do enable Eng. Mode

do it like this, buy abs with adaptive function, put the old one's electricity in the bag and leave it connected..go to Ford and let them pair the new electronics, connect them when you're at Ford...change the parameter in the bcm so that you have extended abs and peace. This is how several people did it and the problem became 50 euros in Ford and it's worry free.the keys are coded, all you have to do is pair the abs module and it's also a pats function and it has to be done in Ford, since you have a facelift

I have hold to a real Ford dealer account, and also updated and reinstalled IDS (129.07), also tried many many times. So i assume this must be some other problem.DGAlexandru wrote: ↑29 May 2023, 19:40 Ford IDS has problems with PATS programming since version 120 or so. In the old days of FordETIS i knew some situations where you need to go back to ETIS and login before you can continue with IDS. I did not get to this point, means that until IDS tries to connect to the ABS in a secure session, there is no need or no prompt to login with my Ford dealer account. Could be that it would prompt be later, after establishing the secure channel to the ABS, don't know...
Intersting, please tell more how to get into engineering mode?DGAlexandru wrote: ↑29 May 2023, 19:40 You can also use IDS to change ANY option in CCC... you just need to know how to do enable Eng. Mode
Re: Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
I've requested that to some of my know Ford workshops, but they all decline to do so. No way, because Ford does not provide it to be done, is what they say. Also they deny because of warranty.marekrbk wrote: ↑29 May 2023, 19:41 do it like this, buy abs with adaptive function, put the old one's electricity in the bag and leave it connected..go to Ford and let them pair the new electronics, connect them when you're at Ford...change the parameter in the bcm so that you have extended abs and peace. And as i said, no worries about the account, the one i can use is fully enabled with all functions, even PATS programming.
Re: Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
since I also have unlimited access to Ford, you can solve the problem only in an authorized service center because there is a difference under which access you are logged in, I use the dealer login, but the workshop service access and that is a different login. it's a job of 2 minutes. I know that you refuse access to work and you have the problem that not all authorizations control work with diagnostics. Ford calls me quite often to solve settings and software problems. There is an authorized service center in my area and I am quite knowledgeable about diagnostic things regarding Ford vehicles
They found a good excuse because they don't know, God didn't give everyone experiences.Make a trip to Slovakia and I am 100 percent sure that you will leave settled and satisfied
Practically, I always completed this procedure because they didn't know how to do it and ids is no longer supported, they have a new system

If it is EURO5 then you can use FDRS.. but for this you need VCM 2 or 3 or other SAE J something passthrough device. VCM 1 (GNA600) is also capable of this, but not with Ford FirmWare and drivers
There is a "special" way of installing IDS to work with the new PATS internal plugin.. and also there are Internet Explorer settings that need to be configured in a certain way.
Try to go to program a new key.. with original ABS and see if you can go to the step when it opens an IE webpage to login... or even to the same PATS init with original ABS.
..the communication error message is misleading..

Re: Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
There are news to tell.
I recently found out that only 1 of my 3 keyfobs are fully working. Maybe i've done something wrong in my trials to implement the new ABS. When i go to "Add key" oder "Erase and program key" in IDS, it tells that 1 of 3 programmed keys are inside the vehicle, even if all keys are physically there. That means that whatever keys are programmed in PATS right now, there is only one match. And with this, programming PATS (ABS, or any other PATS-related module) is not possible and this maybe is the root cause of the programming error it got.
Anyhow, i can at least put one of the other spare keys into the emergency-hole at the streering column and be able to start the engine, so even if it does not recognize the key via RFA, the PATS parts is known to the car. I now try to figure out how to fully recover this spare-key to i have 2 full working keys again.

Re: Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
I struggle to erase all keys and try to reprogram them, as i never did this, and never heard of somebody who did this in a FL. Not that i end up having no working key anymore...
At least, while trying to "Add key" IDS goes through the external FAUST login, which works. Also accessing the GSVEN (or who that crude thingy is called) security access works with my account.

Re: Retrofit "Enhanced ABS" pump in Facelift MK4
Ok guys, i was in the car for some time. I saw no other change to reprogram all keys. The function of IDS erases all keys and then started the relearn procedure. That failed all the time and just before starting to cry that i bricked my car, i got an idea (for whatever reason, don't know) and that worked!
The problem was, that the relearning procedure tells you to push the "close button" of the key to program at least for one second while the progress bar is running. After you click "ok" it prepares for some seconds and than the progress bar begun to run for 15s. I pushed the key, count down 3 secs and released it. After the 15s it starts another progress bar telling "Storing key data" which takes some less seconds and after that it always tells that programming has failed.
Then, i pushed the keyfob key while the second progress bar, the one which tells "Storing key", not the first one as IDS is telling and TATAAA that does the job!! So what IDS is telling is wrong, or at least misleading.
Now i managed to program two new keys, first to the RFA and second to PATS. There is a forced pause of about 10 minutes within that procedure and after that, both keys are fully working!
Now i will try to fit the other ABS again and do the module init, which should be sufficient. And this time i know i have TWO WORKING KEYs in the car. Let's see!
