Replacement MAC7116
Replacement MAC7116
Any one sussessfully changed the MAC7116 on the convers, one of my bench setup I think iv blown the chip the MODB wire touched something on the board when I turned it over to look at the screen, lesson learnt changed all Jumper wires to female ends instead of male ends
Re: Replacement MAC7116
Currently the unit is doing this flashed both Main and flash with ipcupdate still the same, won't let me use MODA to put it into program mode any more with jtag

Re: Replacement MAC7116
Looks like the Firmware crashes on startup, watchdog recovers by issuing a reset, endless loop…
Re: Replacement MAC7116
I‘ve resoldered an MAC once, but it‘s no fun since it is a QFP. There are some Chinese sellers offering MAC chips.

Re: Replacement MAC7116
If you have steady hands and a good hot air workstation (of course an IR one would be better) it can be easily replaced.
Re: Replacement MAC7116
Gwe89, have you tried to replace/reprogram the EEPROM? This is also often a case of reboot-loops. Maybe your short has left it in the middle of a write...
Re: Replacement MAC7116
Unfortunately I was not writing anything at the time, I found the LCX16245 was getting hot to touch, I have got one coming from Steve to replace fingers crossed its only take this chip out, old one removed and ready, I see without this chip on board it flashes the indicators as if its in bootloader mode, im guessing its because it cannot acsess the flash Chop with out the LXC16245 in place, prior to removing the chip I could program main and flash with ucds and ipc update, also read and write main & pbl with jtag, could not use the MODA tho but as far as I'm aware the MODA is connected to the LXC16245
Re: Replacement MAC7116
The EEPROM get's written even if you don't program the module. But anyway, the LCX ist a 16Bit but-driver. Very unlikely that this has blown because it's very robust part (74ALVC164245), but if so you're lucky because this is a common available part, nothing special.
And MODA (as MODB) is not connected to it, they are directly and only connected to the MAC.

Strange why the LCX was getting hot to touch tho after my misshapGo4IT wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021, 09:30 The EEPROM get's written even if you don't program the module. Re: Replacement MAC7116
After the MOD wire touched the buck converter on the pcb the screen went white then turned it off then back on it boot looped then went into bootloader mode with indicators flashing, i measured the component it touched and its 12v, so its definitely taken something out
