As i decide to buy myself a hotair rework station, i spend many days to read and loom for a good one. I was willing to spend up to 200€. Finally i was convinced that the cheapest one for about 30€ could be absolutely sufficient for m needs, so i bought one, just to give it try. I is a 858D+ https://www.ebay.de/itm/858D-SMD-Rework ... What was important for me is to set a temperature, have a display and controll the air flow. The unit automatically lowers the temp when putting the pen onto the holder bracket. Well, i use this device for about two years now and not miss anything. No need to spend so much money. First it really doubt that this cheap toy is useable, but now i can recommend it to all beginners an hobbyists.

I am in an age where glasses are needed ;) but anyway some aids are usefull for soldering. I use a LED illuminated workbench lens (zoom factor 3, don't go higher because of the distortion of the image you see) lime this one:

It has a lid above the lens, which is even usefull in the cellsr because it keeps dust and dirt away. But anyhow, it needs some cleaning from time to time ;)
It was not so expensive, about 50, but you can spend hundrets of Euros for tools like this, if you want.

As a microscope i used a simple handheld with old fashined light bulb inside for most i've done. It has a 30x fixed zoom and looks equal to this:

Some time ago i thought i need something more modern an bought this Andostar:

But after using it for some days i will call it a miss-buy. It needs a lot of time to fiddle everything into place, especially the lights.

After all i mean the best is a stereo microsope with a desk mounted holder:

But these are very expensive (600€ upwards).

Nice!! Multiple times better what i have. JBC is like Weller the High End Class of those tools. Also the microscope is great, looking for excactly the same model some time ago, but could bot find it unter 500€ which is a bit too much money for my usage. And if could spend, i would add a view bucks and get one like i shown in the picture, because it is highly flexible to put on spot and remove.
But hey, you're lucky man having this at home!

This week i received a donation, one microscope and one air soldering station.
Both are old, but work fine, today i try to remove and solder components in a old PCB from a laptop, and the result is spectacular. I need try more to learn and take a good tecnique.

this is my new tools:
