Yes, in EEPROM there is a value dat makes the software in Main Flash to choose the 2 settings.
It also contains calibration data for gauges that describe their particularities in terms of mechanical friction / characteristics and magnetic/electric characteristics... and this is why it is not avisable to put the EEPROM data from one Convers+ to another.

I already understood your point, but my question/doubt was a different one: If i put a Diesel IPC without any changes into a Petrol car, i would expect everything to work but only the RPM-needle is showing a wrong value, but it will not go into top saturation as RPM rise above 6k.

No, the needle would show the correct value from 0 to 6.000 rpm for a Diesel IPC on a Petrol car and also for a Petrol IPC in a Diesel car.
For the first version any RPM above 6k would make the needle to be topped out and in the second version we would never see the needle in the 6k to 8k range.
