Hi,

I tried update my FX, but in this version I need Original Ford Backup CD to switch navigation source to CD. Thereafter I can insert update CD with SP 4.1. It's really only this one solution to do it? I haven't this Backup CD.

Yes, I have here original SD card with maps from 2008. I tried input and eject this SD card, thereafter input CD with SP 4.1 (patched) and no success.

Then I tried also copy SP 4.1 to other SD card and insert - again no success

Hello! i have little idea, follow next steps:

open a notepad and write:

force

after write, save this file with next name: force.sys

now, you need write new sp 4.1 CD, but first put force.sys in this directory:

x:\dnl\bin\system\arion\ford_lsr

in the NX update cd work fine, but in the FX i never try, in teory, after you put cd in the unit force to show update screen, and you only need acept.

i must look where bit you have to press 2 buttons for service menu...there you habe an option to load update from cd

But no in this old firmware version 0318_xxxxxxx. This function contains only firmware 0429_xxxxxxx or higher.

If your current firmware is too old (main fw smaller than 439) and you don't have a backup-cd to switch CD drive mode from audio to data, the only chance you have is to reflash a newer firmware directly.

The menu for forcing the update from CD comes with a newer fw main. But i think oscarboiro is on the right track, there are some "magics". We find them in the bootloaders and images.
Maybe we should look at the flash before and after switching data source from CD to SD and back. With a little luck we find the variable used to indicate that!

Technically the FX should be able to read the update from an SD also, this could be another approach. The navigation software-update works this way also.

I have content of 2008 CD, but I guess if you burn it, it wont read... I'll share link anyway in pm
